With just three and a half weeks left, the end of term 4 is already beckoning. As Hamish mentioned in his previous blog, the leadership team are getting ready for Christmas! This will involve selling candy canes for all teachers and members of the student body, as well as providing an opportunity for Santa photos for middle and senior school from the 29th November – 1st December. The leadership team are all extremely excited about this, hopefully it will all run smoothly and we will keep you updated!
On Monday the leadership team attended a Prefect ‘Retreat’, or conference day, where the prefects and house captains gathered to learn about leadership within William Clarke. We heard from Mr Noble, Mr Raphael, Mr Montgomery, Miss Chilton and Mrs Lightfoot. Each of us grew so much as leaders. We also heard some devotions from Liam (far left) and Elissa (far right) who taught us to work as a team and the importance of prioritising and leading with determination. It was amazing to learn in more detail the importance of ‘understanding, living and leading’, SPELL, how to make achievable ‘ISMART’ goals, leading in a ‘MAD’ way, (Making A Difference in the world) and leading with our heart and hands in a way that glorifies God. A quote from Mrs Lightfoot that was particularly encouraging and challenging was to ‘become an example of what you want to see more of in the world’. Miss Chilton was both entertaining and informative in providing us with information and practical examples of effective public speaking. We all not only enjoyed it, but grew together as a leadership body.
Year 9 has left on their city mission camp. They will particularly learn about the homeless – their day to day experiences and the life they lead. Some recent Year 12 leavers are leading on the camp. My grade was the first to participate in the city mission camp. It was an incredible, eye opening experience for us and I hope that the current Year 9’s and those leading in Year 12 will be impacted in a similar way.
The Year 10’s are on work experience this week. I’m sure that they are having an exciting time and are learning many new things. I am looking forward to hearing many great stories about their week.
I hope that all reading this also had an enjoyable week.
God bless,
Jacqueleine.
