Executive and Senior Staff - Role Descriptions

Headmaster: Responsible for all that is done in the name of the College. He is responsible for the selection and employment of staff and, in conjunction with the Director of Enrolments, the selection and enrolment of students. The Headmaster is the chief educational adviser to the College Council.

Deputy Headmaster: Responsible for the day to day routine operation. This includes staff routine and management, pastoral care and student development, staff professional development days, excursions and daily class functioning, attendance and roll-keeping. The Deputy Headmaster is also responsible for liaison between staff and students especially as it affects co-curricular activities.

Director of Studies: Responsible for all matters relating to the development and functioning of the College's curriculum. The Director of Studies is the main academic counsellor of the student body and oversees the timetable, the integration of all subjects, and liaises with the Board of Studies on the College's behalf concerning all matters relating to the School Certificate and HSC as well as curriculum assessment and reporting matters.

Deans: Responsible for dealing with pastoral, discipline and teaching and learning issues for individuals and year groups, and to assist teaching staff in resolving difficulties associated with these issues. They liaise closely with Tutors, Heads of Houses and the Deputy Headmaster with regard to pastoral matters and with the Director of Studies and Heads of Faculty as to academic matters.

Director of Enrolments and Marketing: As the Director of Enrolments, he is responsible for the enrolment process - from attracting students to apply for entry to the College, to the interviewing and selection of students. As the Director of Marketing, he is responsible for the way in which the College presents itself in all publications. A growing area of responsibility is keeping in touch with the College's alumni - ex students.

Counsellors: The Counsellors are available for all members of the College community - students, parents and staff - to access and discuss a range of issues including: managing a new educational environment, motivation, stress, frustration, family change, relationships, future goals and organisational skills.

Heads of Faculty: Responsible for the management, standard of tuition and administration of their particular subject or course of study in the College. In liaison with the Director of Studies, they ensure that the courses taught and assessment programmes are in line with Board of Studies regulations. As necessary, they help their staff with issues involving student discipline and learning.

Academic Administration Co-ordinator: The Academic Administration Co-ordinator works closely with the Director of Studies by assisting with day-to-day administrative responsibilities associated with curriculum, assessment and reporting matters. This includes responsibility for replacements, coordinating specific academic events e.g. examinations, managing changes to the College timetable and student patterns of study and corresponding with internal and external stakeholders.

Co-curricular Administration Co-ordinator: The Co-curricular Administration Coordinator works closely with the Deputy Headmaster, the Director of Studies and Deans by assisting with out of class student management such as playground behaviour and transport issues. The Co-curricular Administration Coordinator deals with student administration such as participation in the College’s physical activities program, cultural activities program and student leadership issues.

Heads of House: Responsible for assisting to meet the social, physical, spiritual and psychological needs of the students by promoting school and community spirit and pride in the College. They also develop structures that allow the members of their House to develop and express their true abilities by helping to provide a non-threatening environment that allows all to grow.
