Curriculum
The College offers accredited Board of Studies, TAFE Vocational Education Training (TVET) and Vocational Education Training (VET) courses across a wide range of subjects. All students throughout the College attend Chapel each week and complete classes in Christian Development.
In Junior School students study subjects from the Key Learning Areas as well as Japanese, Music, Physical Education and library. These are taught by specialist teachers. Students also study Integrated Units of Inquiry which links learning to life through exploring real life situations. The process used involves students taking and fine-tuning a question that has been asked during classroom learning. Information is gathered and sorted so students are able to draw a conclusion to the question which is then applied through action. Often an excursion may be developed for students out of the need to find information. For example, Kindergarten will attend a farm at the start of the food production process and then walk through a supermarket to investigate the end of the process.
In the Middle School all students are required to study subjects from the Key Learning Areas. In Years 5 and 6 students also undertake specialist lessons in Japanese and German or French, Music, PDHPE, Science Enrichment and Maths Task Centre. In Year 7, students participate in the PlatoProgramme (a thinking skills course) and Service Learning in Year 8, where students gain skills beyond those of the traditional classroom.
Students in Years 9 and 10 study courses for the School Certificate by completing mandatory subjects and also two elective subjects in a variety of areas. In Years 11 and 12 students study courses for the Higher School Certificate and must complete a course in English. Students are required to present 12 units for the Preliminary course (Year 11) and a minimum of 10 units for the HSC course (Year 12).
